B.A.R.M.

Medical Functioning

1. Body Temperature

• ​An infrared non-contact thermometer is attached to a flexible wire.​
• It is released using a push latch mechanism located on B.A.R.M.'s face​
• It can be adjusted easily and brought close to the forehead for accurate testing.

2. Blood Pressure

• An internal blood pressure monitor is housed within B.A.R.M.
• Its inflatable cuff will be dispensed from B.A.R.M's left side through a slit.
• Once the cuff is securely attached around the upper arm, the patient taps a button on the screen which causes the cuff to inflate for a tight fit.

3. SpO2 and Pulse

• A hole located on B.A.R.M.'s front facing side houses a pulse oximeter sensor.
• The patient inserts their right index finger into the hole
• The patient holds their finger steady while B.A.R.M. carries out the measurements.

​4. Lung Capacity

• A drawer on B.A.R.M.'s left side automatically opens, revealing the spirometer housed inside.
• B.A.R.M. then dispenses a disposable turbine and mouthpiece that can easily be attached to the spirometer's main body.
• An instruction video plays showing this simple installation process.
• The patient carries out the required breathing steps to ensure proper testing.

​5. BMI

• B.A.R.M. extends its extendable weighing scale from the bottom of the robot onto the floor.
• The patient will be instructed to stand still on the weighing scale for a few seconds.
• A telescopic rod with a precise ultrasonic sensor placed on the head of the rod is used to measure the patient's height.
• Once the height and weight are recorded, the BMI is calculated depending on the patient's sex and age.

6. Blood and Urine Samples

• B.A.R.M collects blood and urine samples using specialized, sterile collection devices that are dispensed from the robot at the required time.
• For blood samples, it uses a disposable, painless and automated phlebotomy system which is carried out on the patient's arm and ensures a hygienic process to acquire the blood. (Similar to the Tasso Kit).
• Sterile urine specimen containers are dispensed to the patient. They are instructed to store their urine in the containers according to standard hospital procedures.
• Once collected, these specimens are stored in insulated compartments within B.A.R.M, ensuring they remain at optimal conditions for preservation. These insulated compartments are designed to maintain the integrity of the samples until B.A.R.M reaches the smart base for sending it to the testing facilities.
