The Ecosystem

To enhance B.A.R.M.​'s individual capabilities, it has been integrated into an ecosystem consisting of:
​1.  B.A.R.M.
2.  The Smart Base
3.  Health Center
4.  Transfer Drone

Key Terms:

1. B.A.R.M.  - The Autonomous Medical Robot which carries out medical checkups in rural areas
2. The Smart Base - The Smart base is the hub of this ecosystem. all interactions between the drone and B.A.R.M. take place through the smart base. It consists of a refrigerated unit for specimen storage, a charging station for B.A.R.M, the RTK base and solar panels for sustainable power.
3. Health Center - The closest health facility that has blood and urine testing capabilities. The center houses the drone.
4. Transfer Drone - The transfer drone is responsible for transferring specimens and medication between the health center and the smart base.

What all Interactions take place?

There are three main interactions within the ecosystem: 

1. Transfer of Specimen
2. Transfer of Medication
3. Communication System

1. Transfer of Specimen

1. After collecting the specimen samples (visit the B.A.R.M. page to know more!)​, B.A.R.M. informs the base to call the drone for pickup.
2. It then travels to the base and transfers the specimens from its insulated compartment into the refrigerated unit of the smart base. 
3. The drone arrives at the smart base and collects the specimen to transport it to the health center.
4. The health center carries out the specimen testing and conveys the results to our qualified health professionals to carry out possible diagnosis from the results along with other known problems that B.A.R.M. might have noticed (High Blood Pressure, High Body Temperature...)

2. Transfer of Medication

1. Once the qualified health professional makes a diagnosis, the required medication for that area is sent to the smart base via the drone.
2. The smart base receives the medication and stores it till B.A.R.M. arrives at the smart base to collect it.
3. The medication is then dispensed at the required time interval to the patient to ensure required dosage.
4. The drone on returning from the smart base also collects the wastes (disposables, medicinal packages) and transfers it to the health center for responsible disposal.

3. Communication System

1. The Smart Base is the hub of all communication systems. Communications between the smart base and the health center takes place through a variety of media.
2. If cellular data/Internet Access is available, it will make use of the existing cellular infrastructure.
3. In the case of isolated communities without cellular access, it will use satellite communication technology to communicate with the health centers. Both the Smart Base and the health centers will be equipped with Satellite transceivers.
4. Communication between B.A.R.M. and the Smart Base takes place through LoRa technology which allows a range of multiple kilometers. This system will be used to update the base of specimen deposits, SOS messages, and any other requirements.
